Guide to Becoming an Activist

WHO CAN BE AN ACTIVIST?

Anyone can become an activist. It doesn’t take any special skills or superhuman abilities. You just need to care enough about animals to want to help them.

WHAT IS PETA EUROPE?

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) Europe Ltd was launched in 1994 as the first international affiliate of PETA US. We are based in London and have more than 86,000 members and supporters.

PETA in the US came into existence in 1980 in the United States and have more than 1 million members and supporters, making it the largest animal rights organisation in the world.

PETA and PETA Europe are dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. Like us, animals are capable of suffering, and they have an interest in leading their own lives; therefore, they are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment or use in any other way. PETA and PETA Europe work through public education, research, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement and protest campaigns.

WHAT CAN THIS GUIDE DO FOR YOU?

Every day, PETA is flooded with telephone calls and letters from people who want to help animals but don’t know how to get started. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you turn your concern into activism.
